たとえば、このイラストを見て即座に妙な絵だと分からないこと自体、絵を真面目に眺めていない証拠であろう。「ボート」を、水面に浮かぶ一定の幅や長さのある物体だという理解をしているなら、このイラストに描かれた位置関係からすれば、ボートは後ろ半分が欠落しているか道に埋め込まれているようにしか思えないわけである。もちろん、こういうフラットな描写の絵は遠近感が掴み辛いという特徴があるから、一見すると分かりにくいかもしれないが、説明されても分からないとすれば、それは観る側にぜんぜん物体のスケール感がないからなのだ。
