LSWEEKLY LiteStep Related News 12.02.00 - 18.02.00 ---------------------------------------------------- Well, another slow week all around the LS community. With all the major changes in the core coding, it seems as if module coders are waiting until things settle down a bit before hacking away again at some code. This brings me to a point that has been getting to me a bit once again. Mindjunction.com is basically a LS ideas site like the old Mindstorm was. A lot of the ideas that have been posted are hacks of older modules. Seeing as most of these older modules have had there source released, someone should consider updating them to the newer code and giving them a good polishing. Now don't whine to me that you want new mods and that redoing old ones is totally useless. This is a great idea, a lot of the older mods that are still stuck in the wharf, could be redone for the desktop, polished up, a few things added and WHAM, its basically a new module! Give it some thought, especially if your a beginning coder and need a bit of a jumping off point. - demigod --------------------------- TOP NEWS STORIES --------------------------- - How to unsub from the LS Mailing List (2:45pm 15.02) Well, after we all got spammed by someone who for some reason could not unsub from the LS Mailing List, tin_omen decided to post an article on how to unsub. This is mainly for people who have tried the standard e-mail to litestep-unsubscribe and your still getting the list. url - http://desktopian.org/listunsub.html e-mail - tin_omen@mindless.com (source: LS Mailing List ~ Yea I know) --------------------------- MODULES --------------------------- - Jdesk .61 IE ~ Nick Nimchuk (2:30pm 14.02) "This build is nearly identical to Jugg's jDesk 0.61, with one set of differences--the extra two mouse buttons on the Intellimouse Explorer. It might work with other 4+ button mice, but probably not. For those coders out there, if your mice sends an X_BUTTON command, this fix will work for you. Regardless, if you're using Win9X/NT, you'll need the Intellipoint software installed AND running for this to work correctly. If you're on Win2K, you have native support and don't need to worry." url - http://www.chunkymunky.com/modulo e-mail - keelor@zombieworld.com (source: http://www.chunkymunky.com/modulo) +---------------+ - LSWallpaper 1.5.1 ~ Visigoth (11:33am 18.02) - Now compatible with newer Litestep builds url - http://floach.pimpin.net/visigoth/litestep/ e-mail - gandhimail@worldnet.att.net (source: http://www.chunkymunky.com/modulo) --------------------------- THEMES --------------------------- - LiteStep Aqua ~ ramen (12:04pm 18.02) "Just updated the popup bitmaps and added some wharf modules. From the e-mail: "...id like you to put a jab in this weeks edition about a new litestep user site, LS2 - LiteSTEP Underground. currently, me and maaneeack are working on it, and yogi has offered to assist us with modules and such. the site is going to be totally user-related and is going to have news about anything litestep-related. main focuses are going to be on maintaining an online support system of some sort, with all the tutorials we can find. all this may seem a little vague, but we want to make sure our site stays flexible; i guess the best way to describe it would be a ezine-ish litestep site with everything under the sun, except themes (we have neither the space nor bandwidth to host themes and screenshots, although it has been considered that having a Theme of the Week would be interesting). geez, im rambling... maybe you can derive something from that =). the main thing id like you to do is tell the users to email me at mrgbytes@mindspring.com with ANY ideas they have about what they'd like to see in a litestep site, but be sure to mention that its a user resource site and wont focus on archiving themes. e-mail - mrgbytes@mindspring.com (source: mrG via e-mail) --------------------------- MISC --------------------------- - Win2K SysTray Fix ~ Nexter (2:33 pm 14.02) This module is a fix for the systray (desktop.dll and systray.dll) Under windows 2000.
