Sorry about sending this out 3 days late but I got stupid and left it here at work. Now that I am done making a fool of myself, on to this weeks rant. Well here we are again talking about themeing standards on the list. It seems that there is always a lot of talk and no action on this subject. About every two months a standard is talked about, a simple or complex plan is hacked out, then WHAM, nothing at all happens. If were lucky maybe 2 or 3 theme creators go with the idea and release there themes with it, but mostly its just ignored and goes down as another "all talk, no action" project. Reminds me of the LSDP which it always brought up and nothing is done. Another thing about these themeing standard which many seem to forget is that LS is still beta. It changes so much that even if you did implement a complex standard, within a few months, it would be no good because of core changes. Now I'm not saying that there shouldn't be a standard for themes, but I am saying quit talking about it every few months and actually do something about it. This goes for all discussions that I have seen that keep popping up. Make something happen! If you decide that a themeing standard is good, force the theme creators to stand by it or you wont allow it to be posted on ls sites. This may seem a bit harsh but if you want something done, do it! - demigod --------------------------- TOP NEWS STORIES --------------------------- - jugg is back. Just thought of a quick tip that I got from using AfterStep this morning. It's a way to make upgrading modules easier. First, define a subfolder on your popups that are defined like the following: Popup Start Menu -> ... other menus ... Modules -> Unload -> LSXCommand Shortcuts Hotkeys etc. Load -> LSXCommand Shortcuts Hotkeys etc. For each thing under the Load/Unload Menus, make the command they run the following: !UnloadModule (for each Unload menu item) !ReloadModule (for each Load menu item) So, to upgrade a module, just go through your popup and unload it, backup & replace the one on your harddrive, and go through your popup and use the Load menu item. .................................... ----- Retro ----- - InSTEP .02 ~ pcjon (May 2, 1998) InSTEP is a bunch of exe's that server multiple functions such as keeping the wharf always on top.
