LSWEEKLY LiteStep Related News 28.08.99 - 03.09.99 ---------------------------------------------------- Well, this was quite a week. All the mess over the release of b24.5 seems to have impacted the ls community a bit more this time than usual. Although I'd like to really rip into some people I'm not. I think it went on long enough and now its time to move on. We lost a terrific programmer and person, Fahim to this. In my opinion, we should take this as a warning and consider what we say before posting it to the mailing list or on IRC. A lot of mud was thrown around and some people got hit pretty hard. I'd really REALLY like to say more but that s it, enough is enough, time to move on. On to other subjects, some good has been coming out of this. Some people are taking it upon themselves to actually do something instead of just talking about it. SpiritWnd, Necro, Dice, and a few others are taking the helm and putting together some good idea's and sites. Others, like Zer0x, are merrily going along and doing there own thing without letting the mess bother them. I think we should all take a note from them and start to make things happen instead of just yapping about it on the list or irc. Hopefully a huge blow out like we just had isn't needed to make things happen like this, but we may as well make something good out of something bad. - demigod --------------------------- TOP NEWS STORIES --------------------------- - LiteStep b24.5 Finally Released (11:20pm 31.08) Well, it finally happened. The installer is only about 500k which isn't bad since my theme is actually very large when unzipped (9mb i think) and is fairly large when zipped up too (~2mb). The installer will download the necessary files from my site and it'll install it onto the computer. You can choose whether to have a typical setup, which is basically the core litestep and my theme files and one wallpaper...or you can choose a custom install in which you can choose the core files for litestep and Power nIx and you can choose whether to d/l other wallpapers of mine or texts files for the modules too." %%UPDATE%% "The theme has a new set of popups because it's a little troublesome with the transparencies in my old popups and it keeps disappearing when moving to a new menu. Using !Popupfolder or !PopupDynamic all you have to do is recycle after droping a new text file into that dir and your good to go. - Want to update your core dll's but dont want to reboot? No prob! Open an irc client or a file manager, kill litestep, copy over the new dlls and run litestep. In an irc client use the command /run or /exec.
