Yet another year passes in the shell world and what an interesting year it was. I am just happy to still be here bringing you news and other dirt on the various communities. Lets try and make this new millennium (yes this is the REAL new millennium) better than the last. ---------- [ Mail Bag ] ---------- This weeks mailbag question is: Are there any other shells/os's you would like to see in XSWeekly? e-mail - mailbag@xsweely.com url - http://www.xsweekly.com/mail.html ----------- [ Spotlight ] ----------- - YogiNews Yogib3ar will soon be opening a site dedicated to shell related programs. As an ex-admin of dTop (chunkymunky) he has plenty of experience in this field. Stop on over to see a work in progress. url - http://yoginews.ls2k.org ................................................. -= Shell Specific =- ................................................. ------------------ [ Top News Stories ] ------------------ - History Of Disto's ~ _why (9:57 27.12 ls) _why of LSD4P has posted up a History of Distro's. In it he not only goes over what distro's have appeared in the past, but how they have affected us now. Also, there is some very good and serious talk about the problems with theme standardization. This is worth your time to read if for no other reason then to learn a little LiteStep history. url - http://lsd4p.dx0.org/ e-mail - whytheluckystiff@mailcity.com (source: http://lsd4p.dx0.org/) --------- [ Modules ] --------- - grdAmp 1.09 ~ grd (14:29 26.12 ls) grdAmp is an input/output module that utilized the winamp input/output modules for playing mp3's. New in this version: - Finally constructed a workaround for the problems when the volume jumped as soon as a new track started. This is experimental and therefore only works with output-plugins that output information to the standard wave-out and also it has not yet been applied to the panning. - Altered the classname of the grdamp main window from "grdamp wndcls" to "grdampclass", this means that if you had LSXCommand (or anything else) reading from grdamp before, you'll have to change your settings... =/ This was done to go in the lines with the modified version of jamp that is included in this release. - Includes a modified version of jamp (that ONLY works with grdamp) url - http://floach.pimpin.net/grd e-mail - grd@swipnet.se (source: grd via irc) +-------<*>-------+ - geekamp 1.9c ~ azathoth (29.12 16:54 ls) This is a frontend for winamp. You can control just about all aspects of winamp via bang commands and use shortcuts to make your own winamp control center. New in this version: - Fixed bug in !amp_fileinfo. - Fixed numerous bugs and problems (all dialogs should appear on top now). - Add Bang Command !Amp_LoadEQPreset. - Problems: People have been reporting about geekamp not working from shortcuts. This is very strange. I have no answer as yet, if geekamp doesn't work for you, please try older builds until you find a build that works, then please write to me about it so i can fix it. Thanks. url - http://azathoth.ls2k.org/ e-mail - azathoth@ls2k.org (source: http://www.ls2k.org) ----------- [ Web Sites ] ----------- - un2 At LS2K Just noticed that un2 is now being hosted over at ls2k.org. Although there is nothing there yet, it's nice to see ls2k growing like it is. url - http://www.ls2k.org/un2 (source: http://www.ls2k.org) +-------<*>-------+ - LiteStep Commands Moves, Kinda ~ ksr (11:08 27.12 ls) ksr has moved LiteStep Commands from help.litestep.com to lscommands.litestep.com. Same great taste, just a slightly different address. url - http://lscommands.litestep.com e-mail - krabourn@bigfoot.com (source: http://lscommands.litestep.com) ------ [ Misc ] ------ - Online Module Configurator ~ Flea (10:37 27.12 ls) "This page is to help you configure modules for Litestep, the Explorer shell replacement. It is intended for use by newbies and veterans looking for a quick and easy way to configure modules. There are 2 modes. "1. The default: allows the printout of the comments of the module.
