General sites will work very hard

2000年12月22日 19:56

Now as I say on “About this website” in Japanese version, Interface Workshop was/is/will be my private site with my individual points of view. So, for me, it is hard to understand difficulties with some administrative issues in general sites. It should be very hard to keep such websites, and I would like to appreciate their efforts. You can know which is which.

Yes, as c0mrade says in a new special edition of XSWeekly, there should not be any competition between such general sites and we don’t want any wars as well.

General sites will be resemble with each other because of the generality itself. They naturally have sections for development builds, daily informations, distributed modules, BBS, links, and so on. So, we might be standing on a dilemma: to save all websites in peace, or to make the greatest site (this might cut back or reduce others).

To save all (just good?) sites, we should not make unnecessary competition between our sites and someones. Consequently the best website which will save all other sites will contains just a webpage holds links to anothers (not a joke).

On the other hand, to make the greatest website, we should make more and more new sections and webpages day by day. Such site will become a very huge and completely comprehensive site like as a mirror of all related websites.

But we are neither companies nor governments. We inform you many messages with our own interests and from our views. Even if some websites appear to be resemble with each other, we can know about masters’ views and points emphasized in each mergins (or in explicit ways <g>). Yes, we don’t put bureaucratic announcements on the board at our city halls. To make our sites is to make our own sites even if they are general. The generality of website-construction should not be the generality of contents on each page.

And actually we need general sites (plural!) which may separately face with unexpected network troubles (the possibility for redistribution of free software gets an advantage over commercial ones). However it might be a trivial point.

Eh… yes, rather I am worrying about the virtual selection made with despondent people (although webmasters of general sites are also included in the community). If some people have almost the same content in each site, it must be useful for newbies or people who have never heard of shell replacement that many webmasters talk about shell replacements or specified shell on here and there. But sometimes they are intimidated into seeing general websites, when they know such sites… Ah, it will be better to put in the next time…
